Quite often have we envisioned a different hero, heroine or a character artist reprising the role, instead of the actual actor during the movie. Haven't we?

What if we get to know that a few of our stars have missed out on blockbuster movie chances by rejecting them citing various reasons? Let's take a look at some of the costly chances missed by our Kollywood heroes.

Mudhalvan

This Shankar directorial-Arjun starrer combo sent tremors across the South India cinema circuit. The movie turned out to be a massive blockbuster not just in Tamil, but in its dubbed version of Telugu as well. Arjun took the movie to a top notch level with his stellar performance. But just imagine Superstar Rajinikanth in it!

Experiencing goosebumps already? Yes, Shankar initially approached Thalaiva for the lead character, however, the latter rejected the offer as the hero was to don the role of a Chief Minister in the movie. Rajnikanth didn't want to be part of any controversy as his name was already creating a lot of flutter in the political circles. Even actor Vijay too, was considered before Arjun was roped in for the role.

Ramana

Ramana

One of the best works of AR Murugadoss till date and one of the few Vijaykanth starrer movies which is remembered by the audiences for a long time. The movie focuses on a drastic threat called corruption and an instant remedy for it. The movie's impact was such that it was later remade in Telugu, Kannada and Hindi.

Well, this movie was offered to Superstar Rajinikanth again. Nothing much to say or describe, just imagine the Style Mannan in the hospital scene or in the climax court room scene! Sheer mass isn't it?

Nerukku Ner

The movie which was supposed to be a Vijay-Ajith Combo turned out to be a Vijay-Suriya combo as Ajith faced date issues and was unable to manage the same for his already committed projects. Suriya who was looking for a break, got one with Nerukku Ner. Suriya even had thanked Thala during the shooting of Neengalum Vellalam Oru Kodi, a reality show which was anchored by him.

Nandha

It was Bala who came with Nandha for Suriya which helped the actor gain quite the required momentum for his swinging career. This movie established Suriya as a leading star of Kollywood. Ajith had rejected the offer quoting that the script was not completely developed as the narration lacked readiness. The movie proved to be quite a miss for Ajith.

Ghajini

Ghajini

The Suriya starrer blockbuster directed by AR Murugadoss helped Suriya establish a strong foot in AP/TG circuits which fetched numerous accolades to the actor. However, the movie was planned to be made with Thala Ajith under the title name of Mirattal. But the project was shelved for unknown reasons. Well, Ajith's loss once again turned out to be Suriya's hat trick gain.

The movie which moved the audiences for its screenplay and emotions went on to become the second biggest blockbuster of 2004 after Vijay's Ghilli at the box office. The director had to apply grease paint along with calling the shots for the movie as both Ilayathalapathy Vijay and R. Madhavan declined the offer.

Vijay, though, was said to be impressed with the role was not quite sure about the characterization as he was establishing mass image for himself. Well, Vijay could have had dual Blockbusters in a single calendar year.

Kaakha Kaakha

Kaakha Kaakha

Probably the biggest gain for Suriya in his career as this GVM directorial venture proved to be the massive commercial hit for Suriya as of 2003. GVM had paid some unsuccessful visits to the door steps of Vijay, Ajith and Vikram.

It was Suriya's on & off screen heroine, Jyothika, who recommended Gautham to consider Suriya for the character. But yes, Suriya's dedication and performance doesn't make us think of any other hero in the shoes of Anbuselvan IPS.

Thani Oruvan

The movie which created a lot of buzz post its release for almost every aspect of the movie. The major highlight of the movie was the performance and characterization of Siddarth Abhimanyu portrayed by Arvind Swamy. Yes, the yesteryear chocolate boy from Mani Ratnam's movies transformed himself into a meticulous baddie.

But, not many of them know that it was another chocolate boy of early 2000s who was considered for the role. R. Madhavan's non acceptance of the role led to the entry of Arvind Swamy into the scene. Well, the best part was the same Arvind Swamy reprising the role in the Telugu version of the Tamil remake as the makers were keen to repeat the Bombay star for they felt that no other actor could fill in his place.
