Kidnap, Drona disappoint overseas

The two major releases this Eid, Kidnap and Drona, have proved disappointments, although Kidnap is better in U.K. On face-value, the 5-day weekend figure of Kidnap [£ 2,43,309] may seem impressive, but the fact remains that given the festival period and a long 5-day weekend, everyone was expecting the film to touch approx. £ 3,50,000, but the negative reports have hit the film hard. On the other hand, Drona is a debacle of epic proportions in U.K.

In the U.S. too, Drona hasn't lived up to the humungous hype. Even Kidnap has been slow here.

• Durai [Tamil film] has debuted at No. 48 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 4,214 [approx. Rs. 3.50 lacs] on 2 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 2,107.
• Mera Pind [Punjabi film; last weekend: No. 35, this weekend: No. 51]: In its fifth weekend, the film has collected £ 4,068 on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 254. Total: £ 1,89,510 [approx. Rs. 1.57 crores].
