Aashayein fails terribly at overseas box office

Aashayein has emerged a monumental disaster in key international markets. The film is amongst the lowest openers of the year in U.K. [see chart below] and is equally poor in America. … Last week's Lafangey Parindey is a washout in U.K. … This week's We Are Family is expected to open very well in the international arena.

U.K. BOX-OFFICE

* Aashayein has debuted at No. 40 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 9,884 [approx. Rs. 7.18 lacs] on 12 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 824.

* Chak Jawana has debuted at No. 42 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 9,224 [approx. Rs. 6.70 lacs] on 8 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,153.

* Lafangey Parindey [last weekend: No. 30, this weekend: No. 48]: In its second weekend, the film has collected £ 4,873 on 6 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 812. Total: £ 29,359 [approx. Rs. 21.33 lacs].
