Countdown begins for My Name Is Khan

Everyone's awaiting My Name Is Khan, which will have the widest release ever for a Bollywood film in the international markets. In U.K., the film will open with an unheard of 125 prints, in U.S. the rough estimates are 115 to 125 prints, in Australia-NZ-Fiji it's [unheard again] 50 prints, in Middle East it's the same number of prints [50] and Pakistan [yes, it opens this Friday] will see a 25 print release.

In phase two, the film will open in Poland in April with 50 prints and also in Germany [dubbed German version] with 50 prints again. Which means, by April, approx. 550 to 600 prints of the film will be in circulation in Overseas alone.

Weekend: February 5 - 7, 2009.

U.K. BOX-OFFICE
* Asal [Tamil film] has debuted at No. 19 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 40,895 [approx. Rs. 29.83 lacs] on 10 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 4,090.

* 3 Idiots [last weekend: No. 19, this weekend: No. 22]: In its seventh weekend, the film has collected £ 32,562 on 20 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,628.
Total: £ 18,18,316 [approx. Rs. 13.26 crores].

* Rann [last weekend: No. 20, this weekend: No. 29]: In its second weekend, the film has collected £ 13,577 on 15 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 905.
Total: £ 76,176 [approx. Rs. 55.56 lacs].

* Veer [last weekend: No. 22, this weekend: No. 30]: In its third weekend, the film has collected £ 12,432 on 16 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 777.
Total: £ 2,88,094 [approx. Rs. 2.10 crores].

* Chance Pe Dance [last weekend: No. 37, this weekend: No. 41]: In its fourth weekend, the film has collected £ 2,704 on 5 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 541.
