As expected, Guzzarish started on a slow note in most parts of the country. Like this writer pointed out a few days ago, the opening numbers were expected to be dull since the promos hadn't created a buzz prior to its release and even the songs hadn't caught on with listeners.

Generally, mass appealing films starring A-list stars [Raajneeti, Dabangg, Golmaal 3] embark on a terrific note, while films aimed at the big city multiplexes [Guzzarish] usually start slow, but pick up if the reports are strong. The glowing reviews and the terrific word of mouth seem to have helped Guzzarish and the evening shows behaved much better than noon shows. The film should have show an upward trend on Saturday and Sunday, given its merits. Business at 'A' class centres is expected to be the best.

Harry Potter embarked on a much better start than Guzzarish at the domestic box-office. The film has been liked by the kids, although the general feedback/reviews are mixed. However, the film is likely to score in its opening weekend due to its powerful brand.
