Rascals fails to cross Rs 30 crs at Indian Box Office in first week

Bollywood movie Rascals, which got good opening at the Box Office, has utterly failed to reach the expectations. Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn starrer film was expected to go beyond Rs 30 crores net in the four day weekend, but it has failed to cross these numbers in eight days.

Although it had limited number of screens, the response for movie Rascals was excellent on the opening day, on Thursday. The occupancy in the multiplexes was around 60% to 70%, while the film ran full houses in single screens. Its first day collection was Rs 7 crores net on the opening day.

Considering this huge opening, trade experts had expected it to gross Rs 30 crores in the four day week end, but Rascals ended up with its collection reaching Rs 22.26 crore net. It had a big fall on Monday as it grossed around 2.25 crore net, taking its eight day in the first week to Rs 29 crore net gross.

However, Rascals had a poor opening at the international Box Office too. The movie is said to have grossed around $750,000 (Rs 3,67,57,498) Overseas. The film grossed £118,000 (Rs 91,47,833) in United Kingdom, $165,000 in North America, $225,000 (Rs 30,02,245) in UAE and $40,000 (Rs 20,28,425) in Australia.
