The Dirty Picture crosses Rs 50 crore at Box Office in first week

Bollywood movie The Dirty Picture has raked in Rs 50 crore net at the Indian Box office in the first week. With its wonderful performance at the desi collection centres, Vidya Balan starrer has thrown a new challenge to the male-dominated Bollywood. The business of the movie is far better than the earning of Akshay-John starrer Desi Boyz, which was released in 2,200 theatres but had struggled to cross 50-crore mark.

The Dirty Picture opened to a good response and collected Rs 9.25 crore net at the Box Office on the first day. Its business fared well on Saturday and Sunday by adding to its first weekend total, Rs 32.25 crore net. Due to Muharram holiday, the film did well on Monday and Tuesday collecting Rs 10.75 crore. The total net collection of the movie is Rs 50 crore in the first week.

The Dirty Picture is a medium-budget movie and it is a female-centric film, which has gone beyond the expectations of trade experts at the Box Office. Vidya's bold and dashing performance is the main reason behind its huge success and other reasons are its crisp one-liners, good-marketing, word of mouth and men folk thronging theatres.
