Director
Anurag
Basu's
latest
venture
Barfi
starring
Ranbir
Kapoor,
Priyanka
Chopra
and
Ileana
D'Cruz
in
the
leads,
has
registered
superb
opening
at
the
Box
Office
in
India.
The
movie
has
raked
Rs
34.15
crores
nett
at
the
domestic
collection
centres
in
the
first
weekend.
The
film
has
beaten
the
record
of
Ranbir's
previous
flick
Rockstar,
which
had
collected
Rs
33
crores
nett
in
its
opening
weekend.
Barfi,
which
released
on
1,300
screens
in
multiplexes
and
300
single
screens,
opened
to
an
overwhelming
response
in
multiplexes
across
the
country
with
its
occupancy
ranging
between
85%
and
100%.
But
it
had
less
amount
of
occupancy
in
single
screen
when
compared
to
multiplexes.
The
romantic
comedy
scored
Rs
9.20
crores
nett
at
the
Box
Office
on
the
first
day,
which
was
lesser
than
that
of
Rockstar,
which
had
raked
in
Rs
11
crores
nett
on
its
opening
day.
Barfi
witnessed
a
jump
in
its
business
on
Saturday.
The
movie
collected
Rs
11.50
crores
nett
at
the
desi
Box
Office
on
the
second
day.
The
film
saw
actual
big
leap
in
its
collection
on
Sunday.
Its
business
improved
by
nearly
50%
when
compared
to
its
first
day
collection.
It
added
Rs
13.45
crores
nett
to
its
first
weekend
total
Rs
34.15
crores
nett.
However,
Barfi
makers
had
done
massive
promotions
prior
its
release,
and
its
promos
had
created
a
lot
of
curiosity
among
the
film
goers.
The
film
garnered
positive
response
from
both
critics
and
viewers.
Moreover,
it
did
not
have
any
big
competitors.
Ek
Tha
Tiger's
roaring
was
completely
silenced
and
Raaz
did
well,
but
it
did
not
affect
the
business
of
Barfi
much.
It
added
Rs
8
crores
to
its
second
weekend
total
Rs
63.25
crores
nett.
