Ek Tha Tiger, which released on 3,300 screens on August 15, opened to histrionics response on first day breaking the record of Agneepath with its collection Rs 32.92 crore. The movie has collected a total of Rs 154.21 crore nett at the Indian Box Office in nine-day-extended first week. Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots is first all time highest grosser with its domestic collection Rs 202 crore, while Salman starrer landed in the second spot in all time collection chart.
Ek Tha Tiger has also registered huge response at the overseas Box Office. The movie has shattered all old records of Bollywood in the international market too. Salman-Katrina starrer has raked in Rs 13.75 crore ($2,478,928) in USA, Rs 11.25 crore (AED 7,447,507) in UAE, Rs 8.56 crore (£974,252) in UK, Rs 2.90 crore (A$504,200) in Australia, Rs 80.98 lakhs (NZ$180,366) in New Zealand and approximate Rs 20 lakhs in Fiji in nine-day opening week.
However, Salmania, massive promotions and its rich production values are some of the major reasons for the huge success of Ek Tha Tiger at the Box Office. The Independence Day holiday and Eid festivities also helped the movie to fetch the big numbers. The film has collected Rs 191.67 crores nett at the worldwide Box Office in the first week. It should be seen whether it will break the all time collection record of 3 Idiots, which had collected Rs 385 crore worldwide.
