Kareena Kapoor's most-awaited movie Heroine, which has been directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, has received a good opening at the Indian Box Office on the first day of its release. But its opening response is much lower than that of Vidya Balan's last releases like Kahaani and The Dirty Picture which were also female-centric movies.
Heroine is one of the most-hyped movies of 2012 and it was expected to begin with an earth-shattering note at the Box Office. Trade experts predicted that the film would get better occupancy than that of Kahaani and The Dirty Picture, which had an occupancy ranging between 85% and 90%. But Kareena Kapoor starrer has registered average of about 60% occupancy in the morning and matinee shows across India.
Heroine has been in news ever since Madhur Bhandarkar started hunting for its lead cast. The makers have had massive promotion prior its release. Moreover, the promos of the movie have created a lot of curiosity among the movie buffs, who were desperately waiting to watch it. What went wrong with the film?
However, Heroine has received negative reviews from film critics. The movie suffers from weak direction, disastrous music, bad editing, old plot, lengthy, monotonous and dragging narration. It is reported that several viewers walked out in the middle of its screening in many theatres. It should be seen whether it would beat the collection record of Kahaani and The Dirty Picture.
