Director Anurag Basu's movie Barfi, which opened to
fantastic response in the first weekend, has continued to keep the
bells ringing at the Box Office in India. The romantic comedy
starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka
Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz in the leads, has completely sent down
the collection of old releases like Raaz 3 and Ek Tha Tiger.
Ranbir Kapoor's Barfi, which released on 1,600 screens including
both multiplexes and single screens, did a wonderful business at
the desi Box Office in the first weekend with its collection
reaching Rs 34.60 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 9.2 cr on Fri, Rs
11.5 cr on Sat and Rs 13.9 cr on Sun.
Barfi continued to rock the viewers on the weekdays too. The
positive word of mouth is doing wonders for the movie at the
domestic collection centres. The film collected Rs 6.5 cr on Mon
and Rs 6 cr on Tue. It has raked in a total of Rs 47.10 crores nett
at the Box Office in five days.
Today (Wednesday) is a holiday due to Ganesha Chathurthi and
Barfi is once again trending at the collection centres. Trade
analysts feel that the movie is likely to fetch Rs 8 to 9 crores on
the sixth day and it would fetch Rs 64 to 65 crores nett at the Box
Office in the first week. It should be seen whether Barfi would
beat the first week record of Ranbir's last movie Rockstar, which
had collected Rs 64 crores.
However, the successful run of the movie Barfi has affected the
collection of Raaz 3, which had scored Rs 64.40 crores nett at the
Box Office in India in 10 days. Raaz 3 has added Rs 1.65 cr on Mon
and Rs 1.54 cr on Tues to its 12-day total Rs 67.49 crore nett. It
is expected to cross Rs 70 crore mark at desi collection
