Bollywood movie Barfi starring Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz in leads, has become a blockbuster movie of the year 2012. The Anurag Basu directed romantic comedy has beaten lifetime collection record of Hrithik Roshan's Agneepath. It has become the third biggest grosser of 2012.
Barfi garnered rave reviews from film critics and viewers, and also received a big opening at the Indian Box Office. The movie crossed Rs 50 crore mark in the first week of its release. Beating the record of Rockstar, the film raked in Rs 58.6 crores nett at the domestic collection centres in seven days.
The collection of Barfi was expected to be affected by Kareena Kapoor's much-hyped movie Heroine in the second week, but Ranbir Kapoor starrer cashed in on the negative reviews of the latter and did good business this week too. Barfi collected Rs 28.55 crores at desi Box Office in the second week, while Heroine raked in Rs 37 crores in the first week.
Despite facing tough competition from OMG Oh My God, Barfi continued its undeterred run at the domestic Box Office in the third week. It surpassed Rs 100 crore mark at the Indian Box Office in just 19 days. It collected Rs 18.5 crores in the third week, taking its 21-day total to Rs 105.65 crores nett in the country.
Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer faced tough time due to the good run of OMG Oh My God and English Vinglish and collected Rs 11 crores nett at the Box Office in the fourth week. Barfi added another Rs 4 crores in the fifth week to it grand total Rs 120.62 crores nett. With this, it has shattered the lifetime collection record of Agneepath, which has raked in Rs 120.06 crores in its lifetime run in India.
