Mohit
Suri's
eighth
directorial
venture
Aashiqui
2
has
done
fantastic
business
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
in
the
first
week
(7
days).
The
Aditya
Roy
Kapur
and
Shraddha
Kapoor
starrer
has
topped
the
domestic
collection
chart,
beating
the
much-hyped
English
film
Iron
Man
3
(IM3),
which
was
leading
the
race
in
the
first
weekend.
The
overall
total
is
excellent,
considering
it
stars
relative
newcomers.
Aashiqui
2,
which
was
carrying
huge
pre-release
buzz,
received
a
bumper
opening
at
the
domestic
Box
Office.
Although
its
business
was
slightly
affected
in
metros
due
to
Iron
Man
3,
the
movie
showed
good
growth
on
Saturday
and
Sunday.
It
did
fantastic
collection
in
mass-dominated
circuits.
It
concluded
the
first
weekend
with
its
total
Rs
20.50
crores
nett
at
the
domestic
Box
Office.
The
Aditya
Roy
and
Shraddha
Kapoor
starrer
went
super-strong
on
weekdays
due
to
Summer
holidays.
Although
it
dropped
by
20%
to
30%
on
weekdays,
its
collection
is
much
better
than
many
recent
releases.
On
weekdays,
the
movie
has
collected
approximately
Rs
18.5
crores
nett,
taking
its
seven
days
domestic
total
to
Rs
39
crores
nett.
It
is
set
to
cross
Rs
50
crore
mark
in
the
second
weekend.
But
two
much-hyped
multi-starrer
movies
like
Shootout
At
Wadala
and
Bombay
Talkies
have
hit
a
large
number
of
screens
across
the
country,
snatching
a
few
theatres
from
Aashiqui
2.
Both
have
received
good
start
at
the
domestic
Box
Office.
Trade
experts
feel
that
they
would
slow
the
collection
of
Aashiqui
2
and
may
not
allow
it
to
surpass
Rs
50
crore
mark
in
the
second
weekend.
