Mohit Suri's eighth directorial venture Aashiqui 2 starring newcomers in leads, has received massive response over the weekend. Although Iron Man 3 (IM3) gave it a big competition, the Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor starrer has done a record-breaking collection at the Indian Box Office in three days. But the movie has landed in the second place, while the Iron Man 3 topped the domestic business chart.
The much-hyped and much awaited movie Aashiqui 2, which has been made with a medium budget, opened to a bumper start at the domestic Box Office. The pre-release hype of the movie drove the young audience crazily towards theatres and it registered fantastic occupancy in mass-dominated circuits, but its business remained low in metros. It was affected by Iron Man 3.
The collection of Aashiqui 2 was improved by 12% growth on Saturday and 20% on Sunday. The low-cost movie became a smash hit in just three days. It has collected approximately Rs 20.50 crores nett at the domestic Box Office in its opening weekend. Its breakup is Rs 6.25 cr on Fri, Rs 6.75 cr on Sat and Rs 7.50 cr on Sun.
Whereas Hollywood movie Iron Man 3, the latest installment in the Iron Man series, has collected Rs 22+ crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend of its release. But it has failed to beat the record of The Amazing Spider Man, which holds highest grosser English movie with its collection Rs 29.10 crores nett in India in the first weekend.
