Bollywood
movie
Himmatwala
starring
Ajay
Devgn
and
Tamanna
in
the
lead
roles,
has
concluded
the
first
weekend
with
a
decent
collection
at
the
Indian
Box
Office.
Despite
being
a
solo
release
on
this
weekend
and
not
having
any
big
competitor
in
the
regional
areas
also,
Sajid
Khan's
latest
directorial
venture
has
failed
to
beat
the
three-day
collection
record
of
Ajay
last
release
Son
of
Sardar.
The
much-hyped
remake
of
the
1983
Blockbuster
romantic-action
film
Himmatwala
was
expected
to
get
a
record
breaking
opening
and
surpass
Rs
50
crore
mark
at
the
domestic
Box
Office
in
the
first
weekend.
The
film
registered
good
amount
of
occupancy
at
single
screens
especially
in
mass
oriented
circuits
like
UP,
Bihar,
Gujarat,
CP,
CI
and
Rajasthan.
But
its
business
was
very
low
in
multiplexes.
Himmatwala
garnered
negative
reviews
from
the
film
critics,
who
bashed
Sajid
Khan
for
his
bad
direction
and
a
bad
word
of
mouth
spread
like
wildfire
on
the
following
days.
Instead
of
showing
big
jump,
the
movie
dropped
considerably
on
Saturday
and
Sunday
and
its
decline
was
substantial
at
several
centres.
The
Ajay
Devgn
and
Tamanna
starrer
has
collected
Rs
31.1
crores
nett
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
in
the
first
weekend
and
its
breakup
is
Rs
12.1
cr
on
Fri,
Rs
8.5
cr
on
Sat
and
Rs
10.5
cr
on
Sun.
With
this,
Himmatwala
has
failed
to
smash
the
record
of
Ajay
last
release
Son
of
Sardar,
which
had
raked
in
Rs
39.15
crores
nett
in
three
days
despite
having
tough
clash
with
Shahrukh
Khan's
Jab
Tak
Hain
Jaan.
However,
Himmatwala
is
one
of
the
highly-awaited
Hindi
movies
of
2013
and
the
makers
have
had
a
massive
promotions
for
it.
Besides,
the
film,
which
hit
a
record
breaking
number
of
screens
across
the
country
on
March
29,
is
the
solo
release
on
Good
Friday
holiday.
Its
collection
should
have
been
double
of
what
it
has
earned
now.
