Mumbai:
Two
much-hyped
movies
like
Lootera
and
Policegiri,
which
have
a
contrasting
subject,
have
hit
the
marquee
this
Friday.
But
both
the
films,
which
have
massive
promotions,
received
an
average
start
at
the
Indian
Box
Office,
which
has
left
its
makers
by
shock.
They
are
expected
to
show
big
jump
in
the
late
shows
on
their
opening
day.
Lootera
starring
Ranveer
Singh
and
Sonakshi
Sinha
in
leads,
is
a
reflective
of
cinematic
excellence.
The
makers
have
shelled
out
a
hefty
sum
on
its
publicity
and
its
promos
have
created
a
flutter
in
the
industry.
So
it
was
expected
to
start
with
a
bang.
But
the
film
has
got
low
response.
It
has
registered
30-35%
occupancy
at
multiplex
in
metros
in
the
morning
and
matinee
shows,
but
the
footfalls
in
single
screens
are
very
poor.
Whereas
another
new
release
Policegiri
starring
Sanjay
Dutt
and
Prachi
Desai
in
leads,
is
a
masala
entertainer,
which
will
appeal
to
mass
audience.
This
is
also
one
of
the
highly
anticipated
Hindi
movies
of
the
year
2013.
Surprisingly,
the
film
has
also
got
a
poor
opening.
In
the
morning
and
matinee
shows,
it
has
registered
30%
occupancy
in
single
screens,
while
its
response
remained
very
low
in
multiplexes.
Both
Lootera
and
Policegiri
are
big-budget
movies
and
its
makers
have
shelled
out
hefty
sum
on
their
production
as
well
as
promotions.
If
they
have
to
recover
their
cost,
they
have
to
show
massive
growth
over
the
weekend.
It
should
be
seen
whether
they
pick
up
at
ticket
counters
or
not.
