John's Madras Cafe (7 Days) First Week Collection At Box Office

Shoojit Sircar's latest director venture Madras Cafe has concluded the first week with excellent collection at the Indian Box Office. The John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri starrer, which clashed with Chennai Express and Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara, has topped domestic business chart.

Due its controversial subject, Madras Cafe created a stir in the media before its release. The movie, which was carrying huge expectations, had a poor beginning at the Indian Box Office in its opening shows. But its response went on escalating with each show on Friday. It smashed the opening day collection record of John's Force. A powerful word of mouth took its business upwards over the weekend.

Madras Cafe, which raked in Rs 21.01 crores nett in the first weekend, dropped by 30% on Monday. But interestingly, its business went on improving on the following days. On its weekdays, the film has added Rs 13.14 crores to its seven-day domestic collection - Rs 33.81 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 5.23 cr on Fri, Rs 7.18 cr on Sat, Rs 8.60 cr on Sun, Rs 3.05 cr on Mon, Rs 3.14 cr on Tue, Rs 3.80 cr on Wed and Rs 2.75 cr on Thu.

Prakash Jha's much-talked about movie Satyagraha starring Amitabh Bachchan, Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in leads, has hit the screens across the country today (August 30). It should be seen whether it will allow Madras Cafe to cross Rs 50 crore mark at the Indian Box Office in the second week.
