New
Bollywood
release
Besharam
started
on
a
positive
note,
but
slipped
considerably
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
with
each
passing
day.
The
Ranbir
Kapoor
and
Pallavi
Sharda
starrer,
which
released
in
3,600
screens
on
Wednesday,
has
even
failed
to
cross
Rs
5
crores
in
the
domestic
market
in
the
five-day-extended
first
weekend.
Trade
experts
describe
its
performance
as
an
epic
disappointment.
Besharam,
which
also
stars
Ranbir's
star
parents
Neetu
and
Rishi
Kapoor,
has
been
made
with
a
budget
of
Rs
60
crore
in
addition
to
the
cost
of
promotions,
marketing
and
advertising.
"First
day
was
good,
but
second
day
onwards
the
performance
of
the
film
has
drastically
dropped.
Even
on
weekend,
I
don't
see
any
improvement," Puneet
Sahay
of
Spice
Cinemas
told
IANS.
Trade
experts
say
that
the
movie
had
a
good
opening,
but
couldn't
retain
the
footfalls
on
the
subsequent
days.
Trade
analyst
Taran
Adarsh
tweeted,
"Besharam
(earned)
Wednesday
Rs.21.56
crore,
Thursday
Rs.7.13
crore,
Friday
Rs.5.68
crore,
Saturday
Rs.5.94
crore.
Total
is
Rs.40.31
crore
net.
Epic
disappointment!,"
Adarsh
posted
on
Twitter.
As
per
early
estimates,
Besharam
has
collected
Rs
7.50
crores
at
the
Indian
Box
Office
on
Sunday,
taking
its
five-day-extended
first
weekend
domestic
total
to
Rs
47.81
crores
nett.
Its
makers
had
hoped
that
the
movie
would
set
a
new
benchmark
by
beating
the
records
of
Shahrukh
Khan's
Chennai
Express,
but
it
has
shattered
their
dreams.
