Shuddh Desi Romance, which continued to rock the viewers, has been successful in beating two new releases like John Day and Horror Story at the Indian Box Office in the second week, but it has stooped down before another new film Grand Masti. The Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra starrer has also failed to surpass Rs 50 crore mark in the domestic market in 14 days.
In the first week, Shuddh Desi Romance had a limited screen count (1,050 screens) and due to three new releases, its screen count was reduced further in the second week. This affected its business, though it was the first choice for many film goers. The movie witnessed 80%+ drop on its second Friday, when compared to its opening day collection. But it picked well over the weekend. It also remained rock-steady on weekdays.
The Sushant Singh Rajput and Parineeti Chopra starrer has collected Rs 8.60 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the second week. Now, its 14-day domestic total stands at Rs 45.18 crores nett. Its breakup is Rs 1.23 cr on Fri, Rs 2.01 cr on Sat, Rs 2.31 cr on Sun, Rs 77 lakhs on Mon, Rs 85 lakhs on Tue, Rs 78 lakhs on Wed and Rs 65 lakhs on Thu.
Much-hyped movies like Phata Poster Nikla Hero and The Lunchbox have released in threatres across the country this Friday. Trade experts feel that they will slow down the collection of Shuddh Desi Romance further in the third week and they may not even allow it to surpass Rs 50 crore mark.
