Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) has taken the Indian Box Office by the storm. The Karan Johar-produced romantic entertainer has topped the weekend collection chart. It has beaten the first weekend business records of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's previous releases like Barfi, Rockstar and Race 2, which was the highest grosser in the opening weekend in 2013. It is expected to cross Rs 100 crore mark by the end of the first week.
One of the most-hyped and highly-awaited to movies of 2013, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which released in 3,000+ screens, received earth-shattering response with its occupancy ranging between 95% and 100% in both single screens and multiplexes on Friday. With its positive reviews and good word of mouth, the movie showed very good jump in its business on Saturday and Sunday.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has surpassed Rs 50 crore mark in the domestic market in three days. The movie has collected approximately Rs 62.11 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 19.45 cr on Fri, Rs 20.16 cr on Sat and Rs 22.5 cr on Sun. It is really a fantabulous collection for the movie, with which Ranbir Kapoor has emerged as the new superstar of Bollywood.

Ranbir Kapoor's previous releases Barfi and Rockstar had collected Rs 34.15 crores and Rs 53 crore, respectively, at the domestic Box Office in their opening weekend, while Deepika's last outing Race 2 raked in Rs 51.35 crores. Now, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has shattered these opening weekend records with a big margin and set a new benchmark for the couple.
However, Superstar Salman Khan's Dabangg 2, which released in 3,500 screens on non-holiday, had collected Rs 64.66 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Its breakup is Rs 21.10 cr on Fri, Rs 19.06 cr on Sat and Rs 24.5 cr on Sun. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has just failed to break this record with a small margin. But considering the screen count, its collection is better than the former.
