Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani first day collection at Box Office

Mumbai: Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (YJHD) starring Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in leads, has got fantabulous opening and done a record breaking collection at the Indian Box Office on the first day. The Ayan Mukerji-directed film has become the biggest opener in the career of Ranbir, beating the records of his previous releases like Barfi and Rockstar. It has also emerged as the biggest opener of the year 2013.

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, which released in 3000 screens on this Friday, had got huge amount of advance ticket booking. With this, the movie registered 95% to 100% occupancy in both single screens and multiplexes across the country on its opening day. The Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone starrer has collected Rs 19.45 crores nett at the domestic Box Office on the first day of its release.

Ranbir Kapoor's 2011 release Rockstar was the biggest opener in his career with its first day collection crossing Rs 10 crore at the domestic Box Office. But his 2012 release Barfi, which had also got good opening, had failed to beat this record with its business reaching Rs 8.56 crores nett. Now, his latest outing Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has surpassed all his previous records and its collection is almost double of his last biggest record.

Meanwhile, Salman Khan's last release Dabangg 2, which released in 3500 screens, is holding the record of No 1 non-holiday opener with its first day collection Rs 21.10 crores nett, while Rowdy Rathore landed in the second place. Now, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has become the second biggest opener on non-holiday, pushing down Rowdy Rathore to the third position. When looked at the per screen business, the Ranbir-Deepika starrer has done much better collection than Dabangg 2. This movie clearly shows that Ranbir is the next Baadshah of Box Office after Salman, Aamir and Shahrukh Khan.

"Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has taken the Box Office by storm. It is doing exceptionally well across India. Even in territories like Tamil Nadu and Kerala where Hindi film business is very limited, it has collected really well. It is being loved by everyone and we are confident it will create new benchmark at the box office," IANS quotes Gaurav Verma, director - India Theatrical Distribution, Studios, Disney UTV as saying.
