Bollywood movie 2 States, which was released in the key international markets on April 17, 2014, has clashed with several big-ticket movies in the last six weeks, but it is still going strong in the a few foreign countries. The Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer has become the highest grossing Hindi film at the Overseas Box Office in 2014, pushing down Salman Khan's Jai Ho to the second place.
Directed by Abhishek Verman, 2 States was released in around 400 screens in the international markets and has collected Rs 10.80 crores ($ 1,837,953) in the USA, Rs 2.07 crores (US$ 352,354) in Canada, Rs 5.17 crores (£ 523,942) in the UK, Rs 3.93 crores (AED 2,387,450) in the UAE, Rs 2.26 crores (A$ 413,903) in Australia, Rs 65.73 lakhs (NZ$ 127,335) in New Zealand and Rs 17.12 lakhs (MYR 92,487) in Malaysia Box Office in 40 days.
The film 2 States has raked in another Rs 9.12 crores nett from its screening in a few other foreign markets. The movie has collected Rs 34.17 crores nett at the Overseas Box Office in 40 days. Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adash tweeted, "Update: #2States is now the highest grossing film in Overseas in 2014." He added, "#2States Overseas total: $ 5.8 million [Rs 34.17 cr]. Highest grosser of 2014 so far in Overseas."
