Of the two new Bollywood releases, Holiday A Soldier Is Never Off Duty has received a decent response at the Indian Box Office. The Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha starrer action entertainer has overtaken another new movie Filmistan. But trade experts feel that its opening is not upto the expected mark.
Holiday is one of the most-hyped and highly-anticipated movie. The makers have had massive promotions for the film. There are no big releases in any other Indian regional languages to compete with it. In addition, it happens to be the first movie to release post the IPL season. Considering all these facts, trade experts in B-Town had predicted that it will start with a bang and run to packed houses across the country.
Surprisingly, the movie opened to an average start with its occupancy ranging between 35% and 40% in the morning shows across the country. Multiplexes screening this movie registered better footfalls than single screens. Word of mouth took its business upwards in matinee and evenings. Taran Adarsh writes, "Given the merits of the film, this A.R. Murugadoss-directed film should collect impressive numbers at single screens and plexes, both."
Released in 54 screens on June 5, Holiday has taken the UAE Box Office by the storm. Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty storms UAE-GCC. It's the HIGHEST *Thursday opening* ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer." He added, "#Holiday - A Soldier Is Never Off Duty overtakes #Housefull2 and #SinghIsKing Thursday numbers in UAE-GCC. Collects $ 226,000 [Rs 1.34 cr]."
Holiday has received positive reviews from the film critics. Even movie buffs have given it thumbs. Many took to their Twitter pages to share verdict on the film. Continue to read Holiday viewers review in the slideshow.
