Megastar Amitabh Bachchan starrer Bhoothnath Returns, which released amidst lot of hype and expectation on April 11, started on a slow note, but showed decent jump in the following days. The Nitesh Tiwari-directed horror comedy film has done good collection at the Indian Box Office in the first week. It has almost recovered its production cost in seven days.
Amitabh Bachchan's previous horror movie Bhoothnath was a big hit at the domestic Box Office. Since Bhoothnath Returns is sequel to it, a lot of hype was surrounding this project. Trade analyst predicted that the movie would start with a bang at the ticket counters, but received just above average response on its opening day. However, it witnessed a big leap on Saturday. On Sunday, it almost showed 100% growth, when compared to its first day collection.
The business of Bhoothnath Returns dropped on Monday, but interestingly, its collection was much better than its performance on Friday. The film continued to fall on other weekdays. It has collected Rs 30.14 crores nett at the Indian Box Office in the first week. Its breakup is Rs 4.07 cr on Fri, Rs 5.85 cr on Sat, Rs 8.10 cr on Sun, Rs 4.40 cr on Mon, Rs 3.02 cr on Tue, Rs 2.25 cr on Wed and Rs 2.45 cr on Thu.
Bhoothnath Returns has been made with a budget of Rs 35 crores and it has got back 83% of its production cost to its makers. Having broken all the records of Bhoothnath, the movie is expected to collect remaining production cost and a small share of profit in its second week. However, much-hyped film 2 States has hit the screens today. It should be seen whether it would affect the business of the Amitabh starrer in its second week.
