This weekend, Bollywood released three movies like Highway, Darr
@ The Mall and Dee Saturday Night. Of them, the
Bhatt-Randeep Hooda starrer turned out to be
the big money spinner. The road movie started on a slow note, but
has showed improvement at the Indian Box
Office in the first weekend.
Released in 800 screens, Highway opened to a poor
response on Friday. But when compared to two other films, its
business was far better. Having garnered mixed reviews from critics
and viewers, the movie witnessed big jump in its numbers on
Saturday and Sunday. The Imtiaz Ali-directed film, which has been
made with medium budget of Rs 20 crores, has recovered 70% of its
production cost in three days.
Highway has collected Rs 13.97 crores nett at the
Indian Box Office in the first weekend. Considering its screen
count, trade experts opine that its three-day business is on par
with many biggies' movies. Its breakup is Rs 3.42 cr on Fri, Rs
4.80 cr on Sat and Rs 5.75 cr on Sun.
Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala and Imtiaz Ali, Highway
revolves around the story of a young woman who is kidnapped right
before her wedding and held for ransom, wherein she begins to
develop a strange bond with her kidnapper. The film has received
mixed reviews and many critics have liked it for its fresh story
and unique narration.
