Producer Ekta Kapoor's Ragini MMS 2, which got wonderful response in the domestic market, has been rejected by the viewers in the international markets. With its poor collection, the Sunny Leone starrer has paved the way for old release Queen to rock again at the Overseas Box Office in its first weekend. Trade pandits say that its dismal performance is not a surprise as it is not Overseas-friendly genre.
Released in limited number of screens in the international markets on March 21, Ragini MMS 2 has collected Rs 6.30 lakhs ($10,383) from 15 screens in the USA, Rs 3.60 lakhs (US$5,934) from 5 screens in Canada, Rs 4.57 lakhs (A$8,258) from 9 screens in Australia, Rs 31,477 (NZ$607) from 1 screen in New Zealand Box Office in the first weekend.
When compared to all flop movies released in recent months, this horrex film has shown the poorest performance in the international markets. The movie has struggled to collect even Rs 15 lakhs. Ragini MMS 2 has grossed Rs 14.78 lakhs at the overseas Box Office in the first weekend.
Sunny Leone's previous hit film Jism 2 had raked in around Rs 37.21 lakhs nett from 60 screens at the Overseas Box Office in its opening weekend. It had ranked amongst the lowest openers in the international markets. Now her latest movie Ragini MMS 2 has performed even worse than that film.
