Raja Natwarlal starring Emraan Hashmi had an average opening at the Indian Box Office. The holiday factor which usually works for a movie did not work for Emraan's Raja Natwarlal. Though the film made more collections than Mardaani at the Box Office on the opening day, it is still lesser compared to Emraan's previous films like Raaz 3 and Dirty Picture.
The movie was reportedly made on a budget of Rs 35 crores, Emraan's movies have always been low budget but now the pressure is to recover this amount before the release of the next Bollywood movie, i.e Mary Kom on 5th September. Raja Natwarlal collected Rs. 5.75 Crores on day one, Friday. The film collected 5.25 crores on Saturday. So according to Koimoi, the two day total for this film is now 11 crores at the domestic box office.
"It has earned Rs.11 crore in the first two days. It is quite low. It should cross Rs.20 crore in a week," said Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines. This crime comedy caper failed to excite the crowd, in spite of the presence of seasoned talented actors like Paresh Rawal and Kay Kay Menon in the cast, the film could not do much.
The movie saw a drop of 15-20% occupancy in theaters on Saturday in comparison to Friday and on Sunday , the film started at a slow pace not attracting much audience to the theaters. Like on Friday and Saturday, the viewers failed to show up in larges numbers on Sunday as well. The Box Office collections on Sunday are reported to be Rs. 6.40 Crores. This makes the total weekend collection to be Rs 17. 40 crores.
At this rate forget the film recovering the cost of making, it may well be removed from theaters to make place for Priyanka Chopra's Mary Kom.
