Akshay Kumar's Airlift, which released on January 22, 2016, is taking the Bollywood by storm! A war thriller has earned Rs 72.50 crore at the box office in the country and saw a massive jump yesterday i.e. on Republic day.
Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to micro-blogging site, Twitter and reported the collection as "#Airlift is SENSATIONAL on Tue. Crosses ₹ 70 cr. Should easily surpass Akshay's highest *Week 1* biz - #RowdyRathore ₹ 79.52 cr... contd."
He later added, "#Airlift Fri 12.35 cr, Sat 14.60 cr, Sun 17.35 cr, Mon 10.40 cr, Tue 17.80 cr. Total: ₹ 72.50 cr. India biz. Speeding towards ₹ 100 cr. FAB!"
While talking to PTI, Akshay expressed his immense happiness over the collection of the film and said, "The results speaks for the film. I am very happy with the response and it encourages me to make and be a part of such cinema. These kind of films did not had much prospects when it comes to numbers at the box office."
The film also casts Nimrat Kaur in the lead role. According to
the Akshay the USP of Airlift is its real story. "The fact that it
is a real story and very few people knew about it....we brought
this story to all ...That is the USP," Akshay said.
