Mission Raniganj Day 1 Advance Booking: Akshay-Parineeti’s Survival Thriller Gets An Average Start

Parineeti Chopra, who has been making the headlines for her big fat wedding to beau Raghav Chadha, is back in the news now. And this time for her upcoming release Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue opposite Akshay Kumar. Helmed by Tinu Suresh Desai, the movie is a survival thriller based on the Raniganj Coalfields collapse of 1989, in West Bengal. To note, Akshay is seen playing the role of Jaswant Singh Gill who rescued 65 trapped miners at the Raniganj Coalfields.

The movie has been creating a massive buzz ever since it was announced. And while the trailer received a mixed reaction, looks like Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue will be seeing an average start at the box office. This is evident through the advance booking report wherein the collections are yet to cross the Rs 1cr mark

Talking about the film, Akshay, while addressing the students of IIT Dhanbad in a virtual interaction, stated, "Jaswant Gill's real-life story is truly inspiring and encouraging. Similarly, 'Padman' also showcased the inspiring journey of a visionary. They don't make people like them anymore. As an actor, I really love working on such inspirational stories that need to be told. A few years ago, I had the opportunity to speak to Jaswantji on call when he was alive. He was so humble, simple, and down to earth that it was genuinely an honor talking to him".

Interestingly, Akshay and Parineeti's Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue will be witnessing a box office clash with Rhea Kapoor's production Thank You For Coming which features Shehnaaz Gill, Bhumi Pednekar, Kusha Kapila, Karan Kundrra, Shibani Bedi, Anil Kapoor etc in key roles. Besides, it will also be witnessing competition from Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Richa Chadha and Pankaj Tripathi starrer Fukrey 3 which is going strong at the box office at the moment.
