Amrita Arora is very excited. The actress will be performing for the first time with Shah Rukh Khan at the Zee Cine Awards in Mauritius, on February 4; while cricketer-boyfriend Usman Afzal will be wielding the mike at the Nagpur test match.
We caught up with Amu just after she'd completed her rehearsals for the show and was heading for dress fittings.
"I am thrilled to be performing with Shah Rukh for the first time," she chirps. "It's a tribute to Yash Raj Films and will have Rani, Priyanka, Preity, Dia and me, featuring in two songs each with Shah Rukh, who will be there throughout."
"I will be wearing outfits designed by Anna (Singh), a ghaghra-choli and saris."
The thrill of dancing with SRK is dimmed by the fact that Usman won't be accompanying her. "He's signed up for the TV channel, Times Now, and will be in Nagpur commenting on the England-India cricket match.
It will be lonely and I will miss him in a beautiful country like Mauritius, but what to do? He's working and so am I." Has she been to Mauritius before? "Yes I have. I went there last for the shoot of Girlfriend."
Besides this is she performing any other numbers? "Yes, Riteish, Tusshar and I will be performing to a medley of love songs - it's about old songs and new, and how love has changed over the years."
The Zee awards are being directed, coordinated, executed and scripted by the Morani brothers and Soorma of Cineyug Entertainment and will have Karan Johar, Mallika Sherawat, Juhi Chawla and Dia Mirza hosting some segments.
Saif Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar are among the other performers.
