Stars
are
used
to
receiving
all
kinds
of
odd
gifts
from
their
fans,
but
this
could
possibly
be
the
first
time
that
someone
wants
to
send
a
star
a
puppy!
Amrita
Rao
discovered
that
a
fan
wanted
to
send
her
a
puppy
dog
after
the
release
of
Vivah.
A
dog's
life
Says
Amrita,
"I
knew
this
fan
called
Jitesh
for
a
long
time.
He's
28
years
old.
He
is
from
Kolkata
and
once
even
came
to
Mumbai
to
meet
me
at
a
function.
Later,
he
sent
me
the
pictures
he
had
clicked
with
me.
I
don't
know
where
he
got
my
mother's
number
from,
but
just
before
the
release
of
Vivah
and
told
her
that
he
wanted
to
send
me
a
two-month
old
puppy
as
a
present.
Even
though
I
was
very
keen,
mom
said
no!"
The reason is nothing other than the fact that the pup will need a lot of looking after. Talking about her love for animals, Amrita says, "I love animals but I've never had a pet. Mom says that with such a hectic shooting schedule, it wouldn't be possible to take care of it."
Is this the first time she's got such an unusual gift? Says Amrita, "Yes. Normally I get things like guitars, soft toys and necklaces. Thank-fully, Jitesh hasn't sent the pup over till now, but I don't know if he won't in the future. The love and adulation that fans give you is overwhelming but it's difficult to accept gifts as one doesn't know how to return the gifts. But it was a sweet gesture for sure."
Viva
Vivah!
Amrita's
mother,
Kanchan
Rao
says,
"Jitesh
used
to
call
on
my
number
from
Kolkata
and
keep
asking
me
if
he
could
send
the
puppy.
It
was
a
very
cute
one
but
who
would
look
after
it?
We
don't
know
how
to
look
after
a
puppy
and
it
needs
constant
care.
Finally,
I
told
him
that
if
he
sends
it,
I
don't
know
what
will
happen
with
it."
Amrita adds, "Jitesh also sent a message on mom's cell saying he loved Vivah and wants to go and see it again. The response to Vivah has been quite overwhelming because the film has been well received by audiences all across India."
Very few people know that Vivah is a true story. Amrita says, "Soorajji's father Rajbabu (Raj Kumar Barjatya) had spotted the article in a newspaper a few years ago. It was about a man from north India whose bride had got burnt a day before their marriage. He married her at the mahurat time in her room. It was a very inspiring story. This should dispel the notion that Vivah is larger than life and that such things don't happen in today's times."
