Post
his
wedding
to
Parveen
Shahani
last
week,
Emraan
Hashmi
is
now
honeymooning
in
Langkawi
(Indonesia).
Speaking
to
us
from
the
Sheraton
Hotel
where
he
is
staying,
Emi
says,
"It's
more
like
a
vacation
and
less
like
a
honeymoon.
We
flew
in
last
Sunday
and
haven't
done
much
sightseeing
till
now,
but
it's
a
serene
place
with
exotic
beaches.
I
have
taken
time
off
only
till
December
28,
after
which
I
will
be
going
on
a
long
outdoor
shoot
to
Hong
Kong
for
Awarapan.
And
yes,
Parveen
will
be
joining
me
there
later."
Language no bar
Emi says it was Parveen's idea to honeymoon in Langkawi. "Parveen has done her schooling in Indonesia, and so is slightly superior to me! Parveen knows the language very well and I am sure she must be complaining about me to the waiters," he says, laughing. "But seriously, life hasn't changed much since we tied the knot last week! But it feels good to have Parveen by my side all the time now."
So what is the newly-wed couple planning for New Year's Eve? Says Emi, "We will be in Dubai with a bunch of friends. This is the first time in seven years that I am not going to Goa to spend New Year's there. We are giving Goa a miss. I guess we are sick of the place."
'Waxing' eloquent
Has his uncle Mahesh Bhatt given him any advice on marriage? "No, he didn't have the time. He was very restless and kept wandering around the venue waiting for my wedding to get over! Bhattsaab gets very impatient with weddings and rituals and all that. But he did get me a gift. On my wedding day, he came to my room and gave me a packet saying, 'I have never done this before in my life and I don't even know why I am doing it today, but I have a present for you'. I still don't know what it is because we haven't had time to open any of the presents."
So we cornered Mahesh Bhatt to find out what it was. He says, "My wife (Soni Razdan) gave it. They were two candle stands to see Emraan through the 'nights' of life. The highs and lows of life are inevitable in the entertainment business and there will be many turbulent phases. The candle stands will help him cope with them."
