The

be

blame
it

If

notice
the

cracks
the

'the

Every

Global
Warming.
I
wish
I
could
never

such
alarming
situation
on

in

life,
but
to
my
horror
I
did.
No
not
when
North
Korea
did
another
Nuclear
test
but
when
Abhishek
Bachchan
and
Aishwarya
Rai
got
engaged
last
Sunday.
So, Abhishek and Aishwarya are getting married then. It's big news, not so shocking though since we all knew they were seeing each other. Rather it should be said that the couple tried their best to let people know that something was cooking between them .But at the same time, they also pretended that there is nothing (Both Abhishek and Ash coming in the same car for parties but not posing together for pictures as media 'misuses' it). Guru released, the premiere was held in Canada. But what pulled media attention was the engagement news of Abhishek and Aishwarya.
As the engagement news came out, every television news channel blocked all the other news stories, all other happenings in the world and started presenting stories relating only to Abhishek and Ash. The most hilarious part was that the news channels termed it as "Breaking News". Obviously, the TV channels didn't really have any relevant video footage relating to this story. Hence, they started showing clips of movies which the two did together.
If you think this was going overboard, you should've checked out the radio. The Radio Fraternity was so excited over the engagement; it seemed as if they were close relatives of the Bachchans and the Rais and thought it was their responsibility to make arrangements for the marriage. Therefore, some stations had hour long chat sessions with Pandits who matched Ash and Abhishek's kundlis, some others called up caterers and decided the dinner menu for the wedding (also negotiated the prices) and some other channels were kind enough to even make hotel reservations and the fashion conscious channels gave tips on what the listeners should wear if they got invitation for the wedding.
During last one week, the media behaved as if the rest of the world has stopped to exist. Nothing on earth was more important than Ash and Abhishek exchanging rings and it was the mission of every Indian to unlock the biggest secret hidden from mankind - The Wedding Date of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan. Even if the world was coming to end, we do keep ourselves focused on unlocking this secret.
When all this was happening, all we could say was 'What's wrong with this world?' Its not that we aren't interested to know what's happening in the life of your favourite stars, but that doesn't mean that we stop doing all other things in life. Even this website carried a couple of stories relating to this subject because we all would like to know. But, we need to draw a line somewhere and the media behavior made things go bizarre. Where most of the media persons even now are trying to get every possible bit of detail on this issue from their sources, some of the cartoonists from the same dailies have represented the state of current situation and reactions of common man to this Bollywood Sagai.
