Esha Deol sizzles in an item number

Esha Deol recently shot two item songs for Kumar Mangat's Sunday directed by Rohit Shetty. Esha's song, Kya kashmakash hai, has been sung and composed by Shivani Kashyap and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya. Sunday stars Ajay Devgan, Irrfan Khan, Ayesha Takia, Anjana Sukhani and Arshad Warsi.

Initial hiccups

Says Kumar Mangat, "This is the first time that Esha has done an item song and special appearance in a film. When we first approached her, she sent back a message with her secretary Bhaskar (Shetty) that she wouldn't do it.

I called her from London and Esha told me she would do it, if the song Kashmakash better than Beedi Jalai Le in Omkara. I told that I couldn't say if Kashmakash would be better or not but I asked her to listen to our song. Once she listened to the song she loved it and after she shot for it she said it was rocking!"

Kumar Mangat says, "It's the costliest song number that I have ever shot and both the songs have cost me around 3.25 crore. It's a huge set and besides Tusshar Kapoor and Esha we have shot with 1500 dancers -body builders and girls from abroad.

At a nighclub

Adds Rohit Shetty, "Esha's song is set at a nightclub and is the pre-climax. As Sunday is a thriller, the main culprit comes in the song. We wrap the film on July 13 and now only one song needs to be shot in Australia.

Esha's song with the entire cast of Ajay, Irrfan, Ayesha, Arshad and Anjana is the high point of the film. We shot the song over five days."

Kumar Mangat says, "Esha is very dedicated. She shot the song continuously for two days as we had to complete the song.

Last Saturday, we started shooting at 7 am and went on till 2 am and then next day Esha came again at 7 am till the night and completed the song without a murmur as the rest of my cast and crew had to leave for Hyderabad for the next day."
