How is it different working in the Hindi film industry and the Bengali film industry?
Well I am the No.1 actress in Bengal but I still have to prove myself in Mumbai. So, they are two different things. I still have a long way to go as I have not reached a stage where I can be paired with Aamir Khan. All I have to do is spend more time and do quality work in Mumbai which is not going to be an easy job. I am optimistic and concentrating on the path to my success. I believe in survival of the fittest. I just have to prove my talent here or else it is of no use. My talent has to connect to people and they should appreciate it. In Bengal I am recognized and many people-my family, friends and fans have many expectations from me. So I have to live up to their expectations and prove myself.
Rituparna speaks on her other forthcoming films.
BBD is a Hindi film. It stands for Binoy Baadal Dinesh which are the names of three different characters. BBD is a political thriller with a unique subject directed by Anjan Dutt. The music has been given by Neel Dutt. It stars Kay Kay Menon, Naseeruddin Shah, and Jimmy Shergill among others.
My character is a Hindu girl who is the wife of Kay Kay Menon's character. She is a very dignified lady. There is a lot of turmoil in her life. Since she is a cop's wife, she is shown to be compromising on a lot of things.
Gauri- The Unborn should be releasing somewhere around in August- September. It stars Atul Kulkarni and Anupam Kher along with me. It is produced by R. Mohan who is also the producer of Chandni Bar. Gauri-The Unborn is a romantic and a mystery movie as well. There is a strong connection between the romance and the mystery which I am obviously not going to reveal! It is a very performance oriented commercial film.
Songsoy is a Bengali film that has been released. It is a heroine-oriented film about a young widow and her troublesome life. It's about how she is torn between her status as a widow and the relationship she has with somebody. This is my second film which has been featured in The Indian Panorama.
Love Game is a flick with Randeep Hooda. It is a hilarious yet emotional film. It is a very practical film and deals with day to day situations very pragmatically. It is directed by Srinivas- the director of Paisa Vasool.
Saab, Chai Paani.
Saab, Chai Paani has been completed though I don't know when it is going to be released. It is directed by Manish Gupta who has written the stories of Sarkar and James. It is a dark film and the script of which is very good. It stars Sonu Sood and Om Puri. Sonu Sood is a good cop and I again play a good cop's wife in this. The story is how the good cop is driven to corruption because of helpless circumstances and how he along with his wife deals with it.
Gurudakshina has been delayed for some reason. Its director is Ashwini Chaudhary.
Sirf is directed by Rajatesh Nayyar who has been assisting Raj Kumar Santoshi. The film stars Kay Kay Menon, Manisha Koirala, Ranvir Shorey and Parvin Dabbas. Parvin plays an ad guy and I play his simple wife who has come to live in Mumbai from Jabalpur. It's the story about the meeting of these people with different perspectives.
