Tusshar speaks on his films

The talented Tusshar Kapoor will soon be seen on the big screen after a while with his film Kya Love Story Hai. Apart from that, 2007 will be a very important year for him as he will have as many as four releases lined up.

There was no talk about your movies post Golmaal and now suddenly you are all over the place.
I was shooting Kya Love Story Hai, Shootout at Lokhandwala, Good Boy Bad Boy and Dhol. They are all coming at the same time so that's something I can't plan myself. I'd rather have it more spaced out but that is not how the industry functions.

After Khakee you seem to be very selective about your movies.
I am choosy in the sense that I have to be convinced about what I am doing. I must enjoy working on the film and the subject. Mujhe Kuch Kehana Hai was my first hit then something didn't go well after that. Khakee did a lot for me. It brought me back after long gap and revised my career. I made up my mind that I'll be very careful and do lesser films.

I am not holding myself back as far as number of films is concerned. I have to act. I would love to do ten films a year but I must like what I have been offered and I don't have any restrictions on any number of films that I do in a year. It's ok if I have release every month also. But I must be excited about it. It should not feel stupid when film of mine is ready to be released.

Let's talk about your first film which is releasing after four months, Kya Love Story Hai.
Kya Love Story Hai is a very simple, contemporary, romantic film. Its very light hearted and essentially a love triangle which we have seen so many times but the approach is different, the treatment is different and it's entertaining. I think a young love story of this kind has not has been attempted. People have moved on to do comedies and different experimental films.

I think that's why I feel like a young love story, mushy love story has not really come in a very long time. Hum Tum and Salaam Namaste were probably more mature, this is more for families and younger audiences. So that's what I think would set it apart.

Director Lovely Singh and you go way back.
Lovely was the assistant director for my first film and we got along very well at that time. We have been friends since then. So he took a while to come up with a script. He always wanted to become a director and he finally zeroed in on a subject and I liked it. It's our first film together and hopefully this does well so there will be more films in the future.

Kareena is rocking in 'It's Rocking'.
She is good friend of mine but she is also very-very good friend of Lovely. We both met him during Mujhe Kuch Kehna Hai and she has done Milenge Milenge also with him. So as a kind gesture she did this song for the promotion of the film. It will be included in the film also and I am quite impressed with it.

I really liked the way Bosco has choreographed it and I think Kareena now looks more fitter than ever.

Tell us about your co-stars.
Ayesha is the main lead of the film and I'm working with her for the first time. We had a blast in Capetown. She is lot a like me. She is fun, loves food, and enjoys her work. Karan Hukku is a new boy who is an upcoming model. He is making his debut with this film and has done a very good job. Lovely took good care of his performance and like any newcomer worked very hard.

What about your character?
I play Arjun. Arjun is out of college. He has majored in architecture but he doesn't believe in practice. He doesn't practice because he doesn't believe in working. He thinks that he has got a lot of money, so why should he work?

Its not that he is a Casanova. He is somebody who is sensible and has values. He doesn't have any motivation until he meets Kajal and she feels the void in his life. There is boy who is lonely and she thinks that she can fill that emptiness. So what happens after is basically Kya Love Story Hai.

What does the title suggest?
It essentially suggests that it's a light hearted film. Kya Love Story Hai doesn't sound like a very intense serious, over emotional title. It sounds like a title of a light hearted film, which it is.
