"A mix of luck and talent important to get into films" - Konkona

Being so talented and hardworking Konkona feels that mix of luck and talent is important to get into Bollywood. Konkona talks about Zoya Akhtar"s forthcoming film Luck By Chance.

Is Luck By Chance a spoof on Bollywood or a serious take on the film industry?
I have had no chance to see the film because I have been busy shooting. It's not completely a spoof and also not completely serious. There are some scenes which you will find funny. Also there's a serious aspect in the film which is kind of cruel to the outsider or people who are aware of that side of the industry. So it"s a mix of everything.

You are playing a struggling actress in the film. Your character in the film has been inspired by any real life personalities or completely fictional?
It's completely fictional. I play a girl called Sonam Mishra. She is from Kanpur and comes to Mumbai with a dream to become an actress. She is young and ambitious and will not compromise to become successful. Unfortunately, she has to struggle a lot and gets roles like that of a hero"s sister or heroine's best friend. She also gets B grade movies.

Have you ever gone through the situations which your character goes?
I know that all this happens but it hasn"t ever happened to me personally. I know it's very common thing in the film industry. I have heard such stories and know some people who have gone through the same.

Apparently this project started much later than it was announced did you had any second thought while signing the role?
I was aware of casting issues. Initially I had no interest in the film. But I always heard that it was a good script written by Zoya. When she called me and gave me the narration, I fell in love with it and decided to sign the film.

Every one knows that Farhan is a good director. How's he as an actor and how was it working with them?
Konkona Sen Sharma: He is very good actor and it was fun working with him. He is very natural. Farhan is very funny and he always used to crack jokes on the sets.

Did Zoya appear as a first time director?
Konkona Sen Sharma: She is very clear about what she wants. Though this is her first film she seems to have a lot of experience.

Do you think luck is important to get into films?
Konkona Sen Sharma: I think it's a mix of both luck and talent. For some people luck matters more than talent and vice versa.
