Indian filmmakers may be struggling to pull a smile with one film after another failing to hit the box office hard. Over a dozen of films have been released over the last couple of months but only a couple of them did well at the theatres. Now, all eyes are on Khatta Meetha, which features Akshay Kumar and Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles.
Khatta Meetha is a remake of Malayalam film Vellanakalude Nadu, which was released in 1989. It is about a road construction contractor who dreams big. However, his dream remains just a dream because he doesn't have money to bribe. Adding more salt to the wound, his ex girlfriend becomes the new municipal commissioner. The film promises good laughter with the protagonist running into numerous disaster.
One of the highlights of the film is Akshay Kumar. He started off his career with action movies and went on to earn the title Action King. He then ventured into comedy and earned the title Comedy King. After his return to action films turned a complete failure, he is now back doing what he is good at – comedy. Yes, Khatta Meetha is a comedy film.
Trisha Krishnan is another attraction of the film. She is the undisputed queen of South Indian cinema with many hit films in her kitty but she is a newcomer in Bollywood. Khatta Meetha is her first Hindi film. Will she make it big in Bollywood? This is a question that is in everybody's mind.
Khatta Meetha is produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd banner and directed by Priyadarshan. It also features actors like Makrand Deshpande, Rajpal Yadav, Neeraj Vora, Milind Gunaji and Asrani in vital roles.
