Patiala House highlights

2011 has not been that great for Bollywood so far. Some of the releases have done well at the box office but no film has turned blockbuster. Now, all eyes are on Patiala House to give that elusive big hit. With Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles, the film has every chance of making a good opening and turn a money spinner. Moreover, Valentine"s Day fever could work to it"s advantage.

There are lots of reasons why Patiala House should work. Akshay is certainly its main strength. His character as a Sikh in Singh Is Kinng went down well with the audience. He is going to play a Sikh again in Patiala House too. For a change, he will be seen clean-shaven unlike his bearded look in Singh Is Kinng.

One of the highlights of the film is the cast. Akshay is acting with Anushka Sharma for the first time with this film. He has been singing praises of his co-star, even terming her as a very professional and good actor. The presence of yeateryear hit jodi Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia as Akshay"s parents has also added spice to the film.

The film is not free from controversy. T-Series, which has the copyright of its music, has issued legal notice to a television channel for illegally broadcasting the music videos of the film. It has also demanded heavy damages for infringing its copyright.

Well, Patiala House is a family drama with Akshay playing a Sikh being trapped in the patriarchal family system. It features Anushka in the female lead role. Bhushan Kumar, Mukesh Talreja, Krishan Kumar and Twinkle Khanna co-produce the film and Nikhil Advani directs it.

The hypes around the film is so far so good but its true colour will be revealed only when it hits the theatres tomorrow, February 11. Watch out for this film!
