First it was Dabangg, and now it's Bodyguard - Salman Khan has done it yet again!

With Bodyguard expected to cross Rs 85 crore in the first nine days, Salman Khan is undoubtedly the 'reigning' khan in Bollywood. The film could end up netting around Rs 125 crore, according to trade expert Komal Nahta.

Bodyguard, directed by Siddique with Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor in the lead role is the third consecutive hit after Salman's Dabangg and Ready. In Agra's Jwala Cinema theatre, the film ran full-house on the opening day. Salman frenzy was evident in the small theatre that boasts of 1,139 seats, all of which was occupied. Speaking to a leading newspaper, Rachit Malhotra, owner of the theatre said that the audience simply adore Salman. They sing and dance not only in the cinema hall, but also outside of the theatre.

The story is not very different in other parts of the globe as well. According to Komal Nahta, Bodyguard brought in a record-breaking 11 lakh dirham (about Rs 1.36 crore) on the opening day in Dubai. In the UK too the film fetched an impressive £60,000 (nearly 44 lakh).

While Dabangg was released in 2010, the industry wondered whether it would surpass the record set by Aamir Khan's 3 idiots.

While 3 Idiots had set a record at the Box Office by grossing Rs 13 crores on the opening day, Dabangg erased it and set a new record with a collection of Rs 14.5 crores. By crossing Rs 22 crores on the first day of its release Bodyguard has set another mind blowing record.

Salman's Ready and Wanted has also turned out to be blockbusters, adding to the actor's list of hits in the recent years.

What makes Salman Khan such a 'phenomenon'?

Trade analysts say that Salman is popular among all sections of communities and is greatly loved for the tension free entertainment that he provides.

Speaking to a leading newspaper, distributor Sanjay Mehta says that Salman Khan has re-invented action-packed dramas in an era that makes mostly feel-good romantic family dramas.

Salman Khan's 'macho' look combined with an innocent and even mischievous one-liners is something that the common mass is able to comprehend and relate to.
