Shocking deaths of Bollywood stars in 2012

In 2012, many Bollywood stars bid their final adieu to the world. It was shocking for their fans to accept that their favourite star has gone forever. But these stars will always be missed and would be remembered for their memorable work and their contribution to the Hindi film industry.

Legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra died of dengue on October 21, 2012. Yash Chopra began his career as an assistant director to IS Johar and his elder brother, BR Chopra. He made his directorial debut with Dhool Ka Phool in 1959.

Actor Rajesh Khanna died at his home in Mumbai on July 18, 2012. He was 69. Rajesh Khanna was suffering from cancer for a long time. He is survived by his wife Dimple and two daughters. Rajesh Khanna became the first superstar of India by giving 15 consecutive solo hit films in the 1970s, which is a record till today.

Rajesh Khanna's Death

Rajesh Khanna appeared in a total of 180 films - 163 feature films and 17 short films. He died of cancer on 18 July 2012.

Yash Chopra's Death

Yash Chopra became hugely successful director after the commercially and critically successful drama, Waqt (1965). He died of dengue on October 21, 2012.

Taruni Sachdev's Death

Taruni, a child actor, and her mother Geetha Sachdev were amongst the 15 killed in the plane crash that took place at the Jomsom Airport in Mustang district of Nepal. Taruni died on May 14, 2012.

Jaspal Bhatti's Death

Jaspal Bhatti was a famous comedian. Popularly known for his television series 'Flop Show'. On 25th October, 2012, he died in a car accident.

Dara Singh's Death

Dara Singh started acting in 1952 and was the first sportsman to be nominated to the Rajya Sabha. He died of cardiac arrest on 12 July 2012.

Achala Sachdev's Death

Achala Sachdev died on 30 April 2012. She started her career as a child actor and later became known for mother and grandmother roles in Bollywood films. She passed away due to respiratory failure.

AK Hangal Death

Actor AK Hangal, who acted in around 225 Hindi films, died of a prolonged illness aggravated by a hip fracture on 26 August 2012.
