Ranbir Kapoor born on 28th September 1982 to the famous Bollywood couple Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor turned 30 today. This year the actor has two reasons to celebrate as his critically acclaimed and commercially successful film Barfi got qualified for Oscars.

Ranbir Kapoor is the grandson of legendary filmmaker and actor Raj Kapoor. Ranbir did his schooling from Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai. Later he pursued method acting at New York's The Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute.

Not many people know that before making a debut in Saawariya in 2007, Ranbir Kapoor appeared in two short films: Passion to Love (2002) and India 1964 (2004). He also worked as an assistant director with Sanjay Leela Bhansali when he was making Black (2005).

It was Sanjay Leela Bhansali who gave Ranbir Kapoor his first break in Bollywood in Saawariya opposite Sonam Kapoor. However, the movie didn't do any wonders at the Box-Office but Ranbir Kapoor's acting skills did not go unnoticed. After his debut film, Ranbir appeared in many films like Bachchna Ae Haseeno, Wake Up Sid, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Rocket Singh: Salesman of the year, Rajneeti, Rockstar and Barfi.

Interestingly, more than his films, Ranbir is famous for his personal life. He dated Deepika Padukone in the initial years of his career. After breaking up with Deepika, his name has been linked to every other actress. But the actor has once again proved with Barfi that instead of his link-ups he wants his acting skills to do all the talking for him.
