The man "YASH CHOPRA" who made us love his films is no more with us today. He came to Mumbai with only Rs 200 in his pocket and his mother's blessing to make an identity in Bollywood. He then went on to make a special place in the hearts of millions with his beautiful, romantic and landmark films. Yash Chopra's death came as a shock (he was suffering from Dengue and died due to multiple oragan failure at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Sunday), and is the greatest loss to the Bollywood film industry. He is survived by wife Pamela and sons Aditya Chopra (Filmmaker) and Uday Chopra (Actor).

Born on 27 September 1932, Yash Chopra was a successful Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer in Bollywood. He began his career as an assistant director to IS Johar and his elder brother, BR Chopra. He made his directorial debut in 1959 with the film Dhool Ka Phool.

Chopra was founder and chairman of Yash Raj Films. Daag: A Poem of Love (1973) is his debut as a producer, which laid the foundation of Yash Raj Films.

Yash Chopra created his own style. He was known as 'King of Romance' as he made Bollywood's most memorable romantic dramas. He ruled the industry over five decades and over 50 films. His few hit films include Kabhi Kabhie, Chandni, Lamhe, Silsila, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Veer Zaara.

He shaped the career of many stars like Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh has given many hits with Yash ji. Yash ji directed Shahrukh in four films namely Darr, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Veer Zaara and latest Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Yash Chopra shared a great relation with many actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salim Khan (Salman Khan's father) and Rekha.

Chopra made heroines look more beautiful. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday and was interviewed by SRK. Speaking about his heroines, Yash Chopra said, "I respect all women. I don't see anything bad in them. I am doing my duty by making God's beautiful creation (women) even more beautiful."

The greatest filmmakers in the history of Hindi cinema won several film awards. He won six National Film Awards.

He had announced his retirement from direction last week. His last directorial movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which stars Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, is all ready for release on November 13.

Let's see Yash Chopra's connection with SRK, Sallu, Aamir, Rani, Sridevi and Rekha in pictures.

SRK never asked him (Yash Chopra) about the story or how much money he will charge, whatever amount he send him through cheque SRK takes.
SRK was shattered with Chopra's death. He was seen escorting Chopra's body all by himself to his Juhu based bungalow.
