The man "YASH CHOPRA" who made us love his films is no more with us today. He came to Mumbai with only Rs 200 in his pocket and his mother's blessing to make an identity in Bollywood. He then went on to make a special place in the hearts of millions with his beautiful, romantic and landmark films. Yash Chopra's death came as a shock (he was suffering from Dengue and died due to multiple oragan failure at Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital on Sunday), and is the greatest loss to the Bollywood film industry. He is survived by wife Pamela and sons Aditya Chopra (Filmmaker) and Uday Chopra (Actor).

Born on 27 September 1932, Yash Chopra was a successful Indian film director, screenwriter and film producer in Bollywood. He began his career as an assistant director to IS Johar and his elder brother, BR Chopra. He made his directorial debut in 1959 with the film Dhool Ka Phool.

Chopra was founder and chairman of Yash Raj Films. Daag: A Poem of Love (1973) is his debut as a producer, which laid the foundation of Yash Raj Films.

Yash Chopra created his own style. He was known as 'King of Romance' as he made Bollywood's most memorable romantic dramas. He ruled the industry over five decades and over 50 films. His few hit films include Kabhi Kabhie, Chandni, Lamhe, Silsila, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge and Veer Zaara.

He shaped the career of many stars like Sridevi, Rishi Kapoor, Vinod Khanna, Shahrukh Khan. Shahrukh has given many hits with Yash ji. Yash ji directed Shahrukh in four films namely Darr, Dil Toh Pagal Hai, Veer Zaara and latest Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Yash Chopra shared a great relation with many actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Salim Khan (Salman Khan's father) and Rekha.

Chopra made heroines look more beautiful. He recently celebrated his 80th birthday and was interviewed by SRK. Speaking about his heroines, Yash Chopra said, "I respect all women. I don't see anything bad in them. I am doing my duty by making God's beautiful creation (women) even more beautiful."

The greatest filmmakers in the history of Hindi cinema won several film awards. He won six National Film Awards.

He had announced his retirement from direction last week. His last directorial movie Jab Tak Hai Jaan, which stars Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, is all ready for release on November 13.

Let's see Yash Chopra's connection with SRK, Sallu, Aamir, Rani, Sridevi and Rekha in pictures.

Yash Chopra And SRK

Shahrukh was considered as the eldest son by the Chopras. If SRK is a King, Yash Chopra is the creator of this King. SRK has given biggest hits with Chopra. Chopra had said that he always had great experience working with SRK. SRK never asked him (Yash Chopra) about the story or how much money he will charge, whatever amount he send him through cheque SRK takes.
SRK was shattered with Chopra's death. He was seen escorting Chopra's body all by himself to his Juhu based bungalow.

Yash Chopra And Big B

Amitabh Bachchan worked with Chopra in films like Kabhi Kabhie, Silsila and Trishul. He credits his success and the 'angry young man' image to Chopra. Big B took to his blog to pay his tribute to THE KING OF ROMANCE. He wrote, "He is a friend first, a creative legend later." Big B saw Chopra last on his (Big B) birthday.
Amitabh Bachchan with son Abhishek and daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai visited the studio.

Yash Chopra and Sallu

Salman signed his first project, Ek Tha Tiger, which starred Katrina Kaif opposite Salman, with Yash Raj Films. Salman said that he was honoured to be working with Yash ji, who has worked so closely with his dad (Salim Khan) in the past.
Yash ji and Salim Khan had been friends and colleagues for decades. They worked together in films like Deewaar, Trishul and Kaala Patthar.
Salman stopped shooting for Dabangg 2 when he heard about the death of Yash ji. He was spotted at Yash Chopra's residence. He spoke to Aditya Chopra and offered him condolences.

Yash Chopra and Aamir

Yashji had directed Aamir in Parampara (1992). It was said that Aamir was approached to star in movie Darr (1993), but something went wrong and the role was later played by SRK. Aamir also worked in movie Fanaa and now Aamir in Dhoom 3 which is produced by Yash Chopra's son Aditya. Aamir and Chopra were seen in few events like Aamir's 3 Idiots premiere.
Aamir was on holy Haj visit with his mother Zeenat and could not attend Yash Chopra's funeral.

Yash Chopra and Rani

Rani has been favourite of Yash Raj Banner. Her first film with Chopra was Mujhse Dosti Karoge and later she did movies like Saathiya, Hum Tum, Bunty Aur Babli, Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic, Veer Zaara. On Yash Chopra's retirement Rani had said that it would be a great loss for actors.
A friend of Rani told a leading daily that Rani cancelled all media events and spent most of Saturday and Sunday in Lilavati hospital by Mrs Pam Chopra, Aditya and Uday Chopra's side. On Yash ji's death, Rani broke down when her cousin Kajol tried to console her.

Yash Chopra and Sridevi

Sridevi has always been one of the favourite leading ladies of producer director Yash Chopra. They worked together in Chandni and Lamhe. It was him who shaped her career during the movie. Yash ji personally met and congratulated her on her comeback film English Vinglish. Sridevi was extremely happy to see him after a long time.
On his demise Sridevi took to Twitter, "Deeply saddened by the shocking news of Yashji passing away, he was full of warmth & affection whenever we met, he will be missed forever."

Yash Chopra and Rekha

They worked together in the movie Silsila. The sizzling chemistry between Amitabh and Rekha set the silver screen on fire. Rekha's long tresses and dark lip colour became a trademark of beauty. Yash ji said to a leading daily about Rekha's styling, "Rekha and I worked hard on Silsila. For the songs, she used most of her own jewellery."
Rekha on Monday visited Yash Raj Studios in Andheri to pay her last respects to the filmmaker Yash Chopra.
