The Bachchans are considered as the first family of Bollywood. Born on 11th October 1942, Amitabh Bachchan is the head of the Bachchan family. Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan's father was a famous Hindi poet. He is most popular for his book 'Madhushala'. Harivansh Rai Bachchan got married to Shyama in 1926. But his first wife Shyama died after ten years of their marriage. Later, Harivansh married Teji Bachchan in 1941. They were blessed with two sons, Amitabh and Ajitab.
Amitabh was initially named Inquilaab. However, at the suggestion of Harivansh Rai Bachchan's poet friend Sumitranandan Pant, Harivansh Rai changed his name to Amitabh which means, "the light that would never go off".
Amitabh Bachchan married Jaya Bachchan in 1973. They have two children from this marriage: Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta. Shweta is married to businessman Nikhil Nanda, while Abhishek Bachchan is married to Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
