While Chennai Express has been racing ahead in the Box-Office, Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara (OUATIMD) has been receiving average collections. Both the movies released a week apart from each other and this has lead to a stiff competition for the two.
While Chennai Express had a huge release on Eid, August 8, OUATIMD which released on India's Independence Day has been doing decently in the Box-Office. The latest news is that Chennai Express has crossed 171 crore at the Box-Office.
One of the main strategies that has worked for Chennai Express is the aggressive promotional activities by Shahrukh Khan and the team. This has definitely grabbed eyeballs like never before. The team of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara did their bit of promotions before the release of the film but this has not taken the movie very far.
Even after breaking many records in the B-Town Box-Office, Chennai Express doesn't stop. SRK is still seen at various places promoting his movie. On the other hand, we have OUATIMD's lead actor Akshay Kumar, who has already left to Bangkok and with his movie behind. Looks like the actor is okay with the average collections and doesn't want to go on a promotion spree like Shahrukh Khan.
Have a look at the slide show for differences between Chennai Express and OUATIMD.
War Is Still On
Bollywood's big actors Akshay Kumar and Shahrukh Khan are known to be rivals and therefore these two films releasing a week apart, makes it a bigger competition.
Akshay's Advice To Critics
The critics gave mixed responses for Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara and Akshay Kumar was upset about it. He tells them that they should consider the audiences opinion before writing a review.
Chennai Express Not So Great With Critcs
Chennai Express too has not received much praises from the critics but here it looks like the audiences are not bothered about what the reviews have to say. They just want to go out and have a good laugh at the cinema hall.
Imran Khan Praises SRK
Even though there is competition between the two films, Actor Imran Khan who plays the role of Aslam in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara, praises Shahrukh Khan's promotional activities.
Would OUATIMD Have Done Better Without Chennai Express?
We wonder if Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara would have done better at the Box-Office if Chennai Express did not release very close to OUATIMD's release date. Initially, OUATIMD was supposed to released on the same day as Chennai Express but this was postponed.
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai Dobara revolves around the story of an underworld don and his love story. The plot depicts the story of two men falling for the same woman.
