Akshay Kumar-Shilpa Shetty starrer film Dhadkan (2000) has created a history in Bollywood. Especially, the songs still remains the favourite for many. The movie had touched the hearts of many, and now again, the director of the film, is all set to make the sequel of it. During an exclusive interview with Sonika Mishra of Oneindia, filmmaker Dharmesh Darshan revealed that he's a bit nervous, after witnessing the people's response over the sequel. But, the director promises that Dhadkan 2 will create the same magic as Dhadkan.
Dhadkan
released
in
the
year
2000.
What
prompted
you
to
make
the
sequel
in
2013.
Also,
your
last
movie
Aap
Ki
Khatir
came
in
the
year
2006,
after
this
you
had
almost
vanished
from
the
industry.
Why
so?
I
had
taken
a
break
only
for
five
years.
But
again
I
felt
that
people
have
been
missing
me
a
lot,
hence
they
might
have
thought
this
five
year
gap
was
too
long.
I
took
a
long
break
for
personal
reasons.
Back
then,
I
lost
my
parents,
also
I
was
very
busy
too.
And
now,
I
have
decided
to
make
my
comeback
with
Dhadkan
again.
Why
did
you
plan
to
make
your
comeback
with
Dhadkan
sequel?
People
still
love
the
movie
and
it's
songs.
Also,
Mr
Jain
from
Venus
Films
had
told
me
that
Dhadkan
was
a
great
film.
People
said
that
since
Dhadkan
is
a
brand,
so
I
thought
why
not
making
a
sequel
to
it?
Hence,
I
too
agreed
to
it
and
decided
to
make
a
sequel.
How
was
your
first
reaction,
when
you
were
approached
with
Dhadkan
2?
I
felt
humbled,
when
the
producers
told
me
that
I'm
the
only
one,
who
can
make
the
film.
I
felt
proud
of
myself,
when
I
was
said
that
I
could
be
the
best
choice
for
the
film.
I
felt
that
people
still
love
me
and
want
to
see
my
movies,
hence
I
decided
to
make
my
comeback.
People
are
still
in
love
with
the
music
of
Dhadkan.
What's
your
plan
for
music
in
the
sequel?
We'll
try
our
best
that
even
this
time,
the
music
lives
up
to
people's
expectations.
I
will
try
my
best
to
create
the
similar
magic
even
this
time.
I
work
hard
on
my
films.
Singers
like
Nusrat
Fateh
Ali
Khan,
Abhijeet
Bhattacharya
had
sung
for
Dhadkan.
Which
singers
will
sing
for
the
sequel?
As
of
now,
nothing
has
been
decided
about
this.
But,
I
can
gurantee
you
that
the
film's
music
will
be
classic.
The
songs
will
be
very
romantic
and
emotional.
The
music
will
be
such
that
you
have
never
heard
of.
Dhadkan
2
will
be
a
gift
on
the
occasion
of
the
completion
of
100
years
of
Bollywood.
Can
you
tell
us
something
about
the
star
cast
of
the
movie?
Nothing
has
been
decided
as
of
now.
We
are
still
working
on
the
movie
script.
And,
as
far
as
the
star
cast
is
concerned,
it
could
be
either
new
talents,
or
the
superstars
of
Bollywood.
Dhadkan
was
a
family
drama.
Will
the
sequel
be
something
similar
like
the
original,
or
it
will
be
something
new?
Dhadkan
2
will
be
somewhat
a
dedication
to
the
youth.
The
sequel
will
also
have
family
drama.
Certainly,
there'll
be
a
few
changes,
but
honestly,
there
wouldn't
be
any
mindless
comedy
in
the
movie.
Dhadkan
2
won't
be
a
silly,
romantic
comedy
film.
People
will
certainly
have
a
lot
of
expectations
from
Dhadkan
2.
What
are
your
expectations
from
the
film?
I
wish
to
recreate
the
same
magic
of
original
Dhadkan
in
the
sequel.
I'll
work
hard
and
will
keep
the
sequel
to
the
level
of
original.
If
I
try
to
compete
with
the
original,
I
will
fail,
since
the
film
has
been
made
and
that
time
has
passed
by.
I
can't
make
it
again.
Yet,
I'll
try
my
level
best.
You
are
making
your
comeback,
after
the
completion
of
100
years
of
Bollywood.
What
do
you
have
to
say
about
this?
My
film
Raja
Hindustani
was
the
fourth
biggest
hit
film
of
the
industry.
So
maybe,
due
to
that
reason,
Bollywood
has
saluted
me
and
I
got
the
chance
to
make
my
comeback
after
the
industry
completed
100
years.
Please tell us something about the script of Dhadkan 2.
The movie is all about love and romance. In fact, the film's caption says 'Heart beats once again'.
Any memorable moment related to the film Dhadkan...
I have a lot of memories related to the film. But, there's one special memory that was not only very beautiful, but also very challenging.
Why didn't you choose to make your comeback with a new film and a new story?
I won't call this as a comeback, it's more like a resuming work. Comeback are meant for stars, not for filmmakers.
What do you think about the new generation filmmakers in Bollywood?
I haven't seen any of their films, but all are hard working. I must say that 10 years back, filmmakers like Aditya Chopra, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Sooraj Barjatiya, Dharmesh Darshan earned fame without any remakes. Yet, all are working well.
According to you, what are the fundas for a film's success?
Box Office, job satisfaction, beautiful songs and combination of a few other reasons depend on the success of a movie.
What's your reaction on Sanjay Dutt going to jail?
This is really sad. But, it's good that the court gave Sanjay Dutt ji 4 weeks to complete his films.
