In a recent interview given to 'The Variety Studio: Cannes Edition', Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat expressed her views about Indian society and how she relates to her character in forthcoming film Dirty Politics.
Sherawat further went on saying that she was the first actress in India to kiss on screen and wear a bikini. "I was the first actress in India to kiss on screen and wear a bikini," the actress stated. Well, on that perspective, we agree that Mallika Sherawat has set a benchmark in kissing in the industry, with her films like Murder and Khwahish. But, as she claims, Sherawat is certainly not the first Indian actress to liplock onscreen or sport a bikini.
A smooching scene still raises eyebrows today. But the kissing phenomenon is nothing new to Bollywood. The films of 20s and 30s had a liberal dose of sex and kissing scenes.
