Om Puri Turns 65 Today: Hats off For His Contribution To The World Of Cinema

Bollywood actor Om Puri turns 65 today, October 18. In his 37-year-old career in the film industry, he has been part of more than 260 films so far. This even beats the number of movies that Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has been part of. This Padmashree Award winner has gone beyond Bollywood and appeared even in British and American films.

He has appeared in both mainstream and art films. Om Puri, who was born on October 18, 1948 made his film debut in the 1976 film Ghashiram Kotwal. Then he went on to do may more movies that were critically acclaimed. He is also known for being part of unconventional roles in films like Aakrosh, Disco Dancer, Ardh Satya and a few others.

Globally, he is known for his acting in movies such as East Is East, Gandhi, Wolf and The Ghost And The Darkness. Apart from the Padmashree award, he has also won many other awards that he can be proud of. He has even fetched himself a few awards from some international film festivals and this is an honour for India to have its citizen acclaimed internationally.

The famous Filmfare awards honoured him with a Lifetime achievement award to Om Puri in the year 2009 for his contribution to the Indian cinema. He is an inspiration for many and an example for budding actors as he is one of the most versatile and talented actors. We wish Om Puri a very happy birthday.
