Amitabh Bachchan with his wife Jaya Bachchan, son Abhishek and daughter in law Aishwarya Rai Bachchan held a press conference in Mumbai recently. The Bachchan family pledged to donate proceeds from the sale of art exhibition held on his 70th birthday, called 'B Seventy'. From the sale, they raised a whopping amount of Rs.25 lakh and donated it to the Plan India charity organisation, which supports the protection and rights of newborn girls in the country.
On Amitabh Bachchan's birthday, (October 11 2012) paintings by 70 leading artists from all over the country were put on sale for charity. Amitabh and his family donated all the amount in the charity. "Normally I do not announce charity, but this issue was important keeping the recent happenings against women!!, Big B tweeted on Saturday.
Talking about Aaradhya Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan told the media, "I was telling Aishwarya, it didn't occur to me before, but we would have got Aaradhya and she would have given the cheque." Check out pictures of the Bachchan family taken during the conference.
