In the recent past, we had seen that the upcoming movie Ram Leela was facing a lot of trouble from those who protested against it. This Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie, which is an adaptation of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet has now got a UA certificate from the Censor board Of Film Certification.
There were a lot of protests and problems faced by Ram Leela because of the content it carried. After watching the official trailer, people from the Rajput community said that the movie provokes enmity between communities, hurts religious sentiments etc. They wanted the authorities to raise a ban against this film in the state of Gujarat which has the largest Rajput population.
In the past month, we have seen FIRs and PILs filed against Ram Leela but now that it has been given a clearance certificate. With this news, it looks like all is well with the movie. Ram Leela, which stars Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles will hit the theatres on November 16.
Even though Ram Leela has been set in violent times, the censor board has seen the purpose of Bhansali using guns and violence and therefore given a UA certificate. A UA certificate signifies that all ages are allowed to watch the film but children below the age of 12 are advised to be accompanied by parents.
